Low and High Cut Filters

Low and High Cut Filters                     Back to fader8's audio blog Index

Both the UAD Neve 88RS and the SSL Duende Channel strips have good sounding low and high pass filters,

however they are very different. Notably that the SSL filters are considerably steeper and also offer broader

selection of cutoff frequencies.

Low Cut

Here's the high pass filters of both, with the -3dB points matched at 320Hz.

The SSL exhibits a good bit more phase contortion which would of course be expected for a steeper filter.

High Cut

Here's the low pass filters of both, with the -3dB points matched at 8kHz.

Again, the SSL has more phase change but it is a steeper filter.
