Dynamics Sections Controls

Peak/RMS

Peak-RMS.bmp

From the manual:

Peak Detection Amount

Unit: % - Value Range: 0 / 100 - Step: 1

Default Value: 0 %

Instant peak value can be added to the RMS signal feeding the detector section, making the dynamic processing more

sensitive to audio transients.

OK, first, the GUI labeling on this control is a bit confusing because its literal interpretation would be peak OR rms. It's logical to reach that conclusion since other dynamics processors offer a clear choice between rms or peak signal detection for triggering. Looking at it intuitively, since it's called Peak/Rms, you also might conclude that peak detection is full left and rms detection is full right. It's not.

It's easier to ignore the Peak/Rms and think of it this way: Solera always uses rms for its detection. Period. If you want, you can ADD peak detection to the rms detection. You do so by increasing the amount of peak signal that is added to the rms signal when you increase the value of this control. In other words, crank this all the way up if you want Solera to use all of the peak content of the signal in its detection algorithm, in addition to the rms content.

More coming soon . . .
